My design philosophy guides my architectural practice.  Our built environment has the power to determine our social and ecological connections.  Design at every scale needs to be aware of this power and wield it for the world’s good.  My design contributions are at a small scale but are nonetheless transformative for those who live in and with them.  They are interventions which build on three things:  the identity of those who inhabit the space; the identity of the site and its relation to ecology, climate, and neighborhood; and the need for meaning and connection within and beyond the physical limits of the space.  I listen and observe, involve my clients and contractors in the design conversation, and keep engaged throughout construction and into the start of the life of the space.
